Catholic Charities, under sub-contract with the Franklin County Department of Social Services, is pleased to offer local businesses of the northern and southern ends of the county a 2021 Summer Youth Employment Program. It is a work experience designed to strengthen and promote job and work readiness skills in area youth. Worksite Supervisors are a crucial part in achieving the goal of training youth to be productive employees.

Catholic Charities is requesting applications from employers who wish to take part in this summer program. Program applications are short, to the point and take less than ten minutes to complete!

Participating worksites should have appropriate safety measures in place to address COVID-19 pandemic. No site will be risk free, but the worksite should follow all New York State Department of Health rules, regulations and protocols regarding COVID-19, including social distancing, PPEs availability and all other applicable safety concerns.

Catholic Charities is responsible for the overall planning and ensuring the program functions within the guidelines set by TANF legislation and New York State Department of Labor rules and regulations. Youth may not be a substitute for regular employees. Catholic Charities staff recruits and screens applicants (income eligibility is 200% of poverty guidelines). The program will pay participant wages, fringe benefits and worker’s compensation. Hourly wage for participants will be $12.50.

Applicants will be evaluated on a competitive. Our staff will assess each applicant’s potential through the interview process. We want to ensure we are employing young people who are dedicated, qualified, and eager to participate in the program.

Youth will be assigned a program counselor who will provide support to both the youth and the worksite supervisor. The program begins Monday, July 12, 2021, with most youth completing by Friday. August 20, 2021.

This is an excellent opportunity to have some of those endless odd jobs completed or even to train a new employee at no cost!! The program is open to private businesses as well as public, not-for-profit agencies. Summer youth participants will be 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 or 20 years of age. This is a no risk program, with 100% savings to the employer.

If you would like a program application, or have questions, please call Catholic Charities, 518-483-1460. All applications must be submitted by Thursday, June 17.
