Malone–Registered Nurse Aimee Leroy was honored as UVM Health Network – Alice Hyde Medical Center’s third DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recipient on Friday, after being nominated by a patient who said her compassion and dedication to patients helped her through the recent death of her father, as well as medical setbacks amid nearly three decades of care for an uncommon combination of conditions that require routine hormonal infusions.

Leroy received the award Friday afternoon, during a surprise ceremony at the hospital’s Reddy Cancer Center, where she serves as a cancer care nurse. Rebecca Shutts, MSN, MBA, RN, Alice Hyde’s Chief Nursing Officer, called Leroy a constant, compassionate presence at the Center.
