Photo Submitted by Patrick TatroThe pride of Malone a half century ago was the 27th Separate Co, shown in parade dress in the photo. The picture was taken in 1879; a year after the unit was organized. The setting is opposite Memorial Park with the Rutland Railroad Station in the background. Spectators in horse-drawn buggies looked on as the company posed for the photograph. At the time, of its first 100 members, six were still living; today any surviving members would be nearly 200 years ago.
