AKWESASNE –– An Akwesasne man wanted on multiple charges, including two felonies, was arrested Monday by St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police.
Chance H. Thompson, 36, was arrested on warrants charging him with first-degree rape and second-degree criminal mischief, both felonies; third-degree fleeing a police officer, reckless driving and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all misdemeanors; and failure to comply and multiple other Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions. He was also charged on a separate warrant with felony driving while intoxicated.
Details of the incidents that led to Thompson’s arrest were not provided by tribal police. The warrant in the alleged rape was issued in May 2019.
Thompson was arraigned and committed to the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail, $500,000 secured bond or $1 million unsecured bond.
