n Jonathan A. Bashaw, 35, of Brainardsville, was charged by Malone Village Police with third-degree arson, a felony; and second-degree aggravated harassment and two counts of fourth degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. Arraigned before Malone Town Justice Stephen Stone and released on his own recognizance.

n Samantha E. Weekes, 28, of Madrid, was charged by New York State Police with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, in connection with an incident on County Route 4 in the town of Westville. Issued an appearance ticket.

n Doreen J. Peffer, 53, of Malone, was charged by New York State Police with driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 of 1% or greater, both misdemeanors, by troopers responding to a reported verbal altercation at a Riley Road residence in Malone. Both people invoved were highly intoxicated, troopers said. In the course of their investigation, trooper discovered Peffer had just driven to the residence from Meacham Lake in the town of Duane. Her blood alcohol content was reportedly 0.11%. Issued an appearance ticket.

n Kevin Meade, 31, of Malone, was charged with failure to register his address as a sex offender and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Meade was sentenced in Franklin County Court to two years in prison after having been convicted in 2009 of third-degree rape for having sex with a 14-year-old girl. n Steven M. Cromp, 64, of Malone, was arrested by Malone Village Police on a state parole warrant. Cromp had been released on parole in December after serving a portion of a two- to six-year sentence on a previous conviction for failure to register as a sex offender as a second offense. Cromp had been convicted in 2001 in St. Lawrence County on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse for multiple offenses involving a 53-year-old woman.

n Robert M. Gavin, 45, of Constable, was charged by Malone Village Police with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; and failure to take a breath test and leaving the scene of a property-damage crash, both Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions. Arraigned before Malone Town Justice Stephen Stone and committed to the Franklin County Jail.
