CHATEAUGAY — A Malone man faces three counts of forgery charges from state police after his arrest following an investigation into forged checks, Saturday.

Michael Lavare, 27, of Malone, was arrested after forging checks over approximately a one week period, from Sept. 23 to Sept. 29, according to a press release from the state police.

According to the press release, a state police investigation revealed Lavare forged the victim’s signature on three personal checks and cashed the forged checks at Community Bank on East Main Street.

The press release states Lavare was arraigned virtually and released to reappear in Chateaugay Town Court in March.
