Bryon J. Dibble, 38, was charged by Malone Village Police with second-degree burglary, a felony; and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree menacing and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, all misdemeanors, after he allegedly smashed in the door of a neighboring apartment and threatened the occupant with a crowbar. Police said Dibble also knocked a phone out of the victim’s hand as he was calling for help and refused to allow him to leave the room.

Dibble has previous arrests for assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child and contempt of court resulting from incidents dating back to at least 2009.

He was released following his arraignment in Malone Town Court because bail cannot be imposed on any of the charges under the new state law.
