MOIRA – The family of Alton “Freckles” A. LaPage, 85, announce his passing on Friday, June 12, 2020, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Born in Westville, he was the son of Ovilla and Marie (Robinson) LaPage. He attended a one-room school house in Westville. Freckles enjoyed his farm of almost 50 years in Moira, harness racing, horse betting, dancing, and a good game of cards with friends. Freckles was a well-known gentleman throughout the area who would always take the time to stop, visit and laugh with you. His smile and unique laugh was enough to make anyone smile. He was a self-employed as a cattle dealer. Alton purchased and sold over 100 farms with his business partner C.C. Miller throughout the North Country.
Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his beloved Ella, and his children Michelle (Wayne) Wallbridge of Malone, Sherrie Moquin of Morristown, Bonnie (Kevin) Fleury of Moira, Craig LaPage of Brushton, Theresa LaPage of Moira and her companion Greg Jenkins, Carrie (Terry) Parent of St. Albans, VT, Bryan (Vitaline) LaPage of Brushton, Paula LaPage of Moira, Scott (Susan) LaPage of Moira, and Todd (Tiffany) LaPage of Moira. He is also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His siblings Carol (Donald) Warner of Malone, Marie Roberts of Westville, Myra (George) Campbell of Malone, Larry (Darlene) LaPage, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins, survive him.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Troy, who passed in 1978 at the age of 3, and two brothers and two sisters, Leo LaPage, Donald LaPage, Betty Henderson, and Shirley Hebert.
A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, at the family home, 775 State Route 11, Moira, from 2 to 9 p.m. A graveside service will commence Thursday 10:30 a.m. at St Mary’s Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding.
Due to the current health care situation, social distancing and facial mask are encouraged, but all are welcome to attend.
