Joan M. Stickney, 88, Malone, died Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Alice Center, Malone.

Born on November 19, 1931 in Utica, NY, she was the daughter of James J. and Elva (Shields) McCarthy.

Joan was married to Douglas T. Stickney on August 4, 1950 in St. Joseph’s Church by Rev. John McNamara. He predeceased her on October 2, 2011.

She lived her life in Malone after moving from Utica with her parents in 1939. She attended school in Malone and graduated from Franklin Academy in 1949. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, Malone. Joan enjoyed crocheting and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her two sons, James and Patricia Stickney of Owls Head, NY, David and Lisa Stickney of Bangor, NY; two daughters, Carol Thompson of George Mills, NH, Cathy and Jay Pratt of Franklin, NH; two daughters-in-law, Patricia Stickney and Cheryl Stickney; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Ted McCarthy of Arlington, MA.

Besides her husband, Joan was predeceased by her parents; two sons, Michael and Douglas T. Stickney; four brothers, James T., Michael, Thomas and Richard McCarthy; and two sisters, Elizabeth McCarthy and Mary LaBarge.

At Joan’s request there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
