Joseph Sokolowski


BRUSHTON –– With heavy hearts the family of Joseph P. Sokolowski announce his passing on Friday, July 3, 2020, at the Fletcher Allen Medical Center. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.

Born December 1, 1951, in Malone, NY, he was the son of Teddy and June (Richards) Sokolowski. Joseph united into marriage with Karen Moore; they later parted company. He then united into marriage with Carol Williams, who predeceased him on July 31, 2011.

Joseph worked for 16 years at the IGA store in Malone. He also worked at Hannaford in Massena. For 33 years, Joseph owned and operated a meat shop in Brushton, which started in 1979. He also owned and operated two secondhand stores, “Ginger Jack” and “Gold Miners Treasure.”

Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his children, Peter Sokolowski of Malone, David Sokolowski of Brushton, “Joey” Joseph Jr. Sokolowski and his companion, Nichole, of Brushton, and Frank Sokolowski of North Bangor. His grandchildren Vincent, Luke, Destiny and Joseph III also survive him.

His brother, Stanley Sokolowski, predeceased him.

A combined graveside service for Joseph and his mother, June, will be held Friday, July 24, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Brushton.

Memorial Contributions in Joseph’s honor may be made to the Brushton Food Pantry and/or Meals on Wheels.
