Lorraine Kline


Lorraine Kline, 97, formerly of Chateaugay Lake, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh.

Born on December 23, 1923 in Lyon Mountain, NY, she was the daughter of Sidney E. and Teresa V. (McKinney) Fifield.

She was married to William “Bill” H. Kline on July 12, 1947 at the Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church. He predeceased her on April 3, 2009.

Lorraine graduated from Mineville High School. She was employed at Republic Steel Corp for 17 years in the accounting department and then Clinton County Legislative Office as a senior clerk typist for 26 years before retiring.

Lorraine was a Brownie Troop leader, Sunday School teacher as well as a youth group leader alongside her husband. She was a former member of the Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church and the Brainardsville United Methodist Church and a recent member of the Dannemora United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Methodist Church choir and the Order of the Eastern Star in Ellenburg, serving as the Matron, secretary, Star Point and treasurer. She had a contagious positive outlook on life; radiated kindness and had the ability to find and draw out the good in people. Her smile and her incredible spirit will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of being part of her life, even for a brief period. Lorraine was a very loving, caring, open minded individual, who accepted everyone. She was a devoted beloved mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Philip Haley of Saranac, NY; two granddaughters, Lexi and Faith Haley; a step brother, David Baker and his wife, Edith; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her loving husband, Lorraine was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Gerald, Warren and Sidney Jr. Fifield; a nephew, William Fifield; a step sister, Elgia Healey; and a step brother, “Buck” Baker.

Calling hours will be held at Dannemora United Methodist Church, on Friday, May 7 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m.

A funeral service will be held immediately following at 4 p.m. at the church. In accordance with current health restrictions, those in attendance are asked to observe the use of face coverings and social distancing.

Donations in her memory may be made to Lyon Mountain United Methodist Church, Dannemora United Methodist Church, Brainardsville United Methodist Church, Hospice of the North Country or a charity of your choice.

Flowers may be delivered to the church anytime after noon on Thursday, May 6.

Burial will be held in Independence Cemetery, Saranac, NY.
