Muriel C. Campbell, 87, of Chateaugay died Monday, October 11, 2021 at her home with her loving family and hospice at her side.

Muriel was born on September 26, 1934, the daughter of Joseph and Lillian (Decosse) Poupore. Muriel graduated from Chateaugay Central School in 1952. She worked in her younger years as a waitress at the Chateaugay Hotel, a secretary to Attorney Joseph Ryan and then became the first State Certified woman to hold the position of Franklin County Real Property Director before retiring in 1991. She was a 70 plus year member of the St. Patrick’s Church choir and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 875 for over 55 years and held all offices.

She enjoyed cooking, making and giving away food to her family and friends, gardening and canning, and playing bingo. She loved the bingo trips that she took with her family and friends but most of all she loved her family.

On November 5, 1955, she married Thomas F. Campbell. He survives along with their four children and their spouses, Dan and Ute Campbell of Brownville, NY; Marie and Kirby Cook of Chateaugay; Bill and Karrin Campbell of Malta, NY and Joseph of Chateaugay. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren, Katie Campbell of Watertown, Mitchell (Carrie) Campbell of Liverpool, NY Darby (Irving) Monette, Kyle (Barbie) LaBare of Chateaugay, Cortney (Alan) Harkleroad of Fairhope, AL. Jamie (James) Votraw of Florida, Michaela (Austin) Lambert of Casper, Wyoming and Brady Campbell of Houston, Texas; eleven great grandchildren, Alexis and Hannah Monette, Asa Harkleroad, Brayden and Ethan Campbell, Jaxen and Bruin Votraw, Gwendolyn Lambert, Cameron, Hallie and Rielynn LaBare and two soon to be great granddaughters.

She is also survived by her three brothers, Floyd (Marilyn) Poupore, Gerald Poupore and his companion (Bev), John (Eileen) Poupore; three sisters, Linda (Kenny) Prevo, Janet LaClair and Susan (Paul) Gregory; sisters-in-law, Mary and Theresa Poupore; a brother-in-law, Dave Marger; as well as several nieces, nephews and too many cousins to name.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Donald, James and Mike Poupore; sisters, Rita Ryan and Cindy Marger; a sister-in-law, Nancy Poupore; and a brother-in-law, Francis LaClair.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Chateaugay.
