Robert G. Southworth, 85, of Burke, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at his home with his family by his side and aided by Hospice of the North Country.

Born on October 8, 1935 in North Bangor, NY, he was the son of John and Marion L. (Taylor) Southworth.

He was married to Joyce M. Marlow on May 30, 1957 at St. George’s Church, Burke by Rev. John Stone.

Robert graduated from Franklin Academy in 1954. He was a farmer his whole life, owning and operating Southworth Farms in Burke as a Holstein dairy farm until 1991, when he became a beef cattle farmer. He worked at McCadam Cheese for 25 years and retired in 2003 and was a member of the Burke Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years. Robert was a hardworking good man and will be deeply missed.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce; two sons, Brian Southworth (Denise) of Malone, Craig Southworth of Burke; two daughters, JoAnn M. Southworth and Julie M. Stalker (Christopher) of Burke; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Southworth of Bangor; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Southworth of Malone, Karen Mills (Bruce) of Palmyra, NY; a niece, Terri Stewart of Pine Bush, NY; as well as a special family friend, Mary Myford.

Robert was predeceased by his parents; a son, Bruce Southworth; three brothers, William, Lloyd and John Southworth; and a sister, Marjorie Premo.

A memorial service will be held in the spring and announced at a later date.

Spring burial will take place in St. George’s Cemetery, Burke.

Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Burke Volunteer Fire Department and Hospice of the North Country.
