MALONE – With heavy hearts the family of Ruth Gonyea, announces her passing on Friday (August 7, 2020) at her home. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
Born in Saranac Lake on December 3, 1950 the daughter of Leon & Betty (Brown) Chesbrough. She was a 1968 graduate of Saranac Lake High School. For over 30 years Ruth was a receptionist at the Alice Hyde Medical Center. Ruth united into marriage with Dale Gonyea, he later predeceased her. She loved her job and became known as the “Face of Alice Hyde”. Ruth enjoyed the simplicity of life and loved gazing at the fall foliage on an October drive. She enjoyed watching BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) movies and through the years collected many of her favorite shows. However, she cherished the time spent with family and her beloved grandchildren.
Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of her two sons and daughter-in-laws Jeremy (Miranda) Gonyea of Constable, and Benjamin (Rebecca) Gonyea of Cato, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Slade, Rayah, Jaxon and Inara.
She is also survived by six sisters, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ruth is predeceased by her parents and a sister.
Respecting Ruth’s wishes there will be no funeral service
“If you miss me think of me on a crisp fall day,
When you see the beautiful leaves and pumpkins and mums, and
Scarecrows and all the things fall”.
