To the editor:

In response to the question “Who needs a representative like this?”

(Elise) Stefanik’s behavior in the Trump impeachment hearings should have surprised no one. Prior to the hearings, she signed a resolution calling for Adam Schiff to step down. She provided at least four descriptions of his behavior as justification. These same four descriptions described Trump’s behavior, yet she did not call for him to step down. This demonstrated her hypocrisy and partisanship.

Additionally, she had said that she would never vote to impeach Trump because the Democrats wanted to impeach him all along. Therefore, she went into the hearings knowing what she was going to do before listening to a single fact witness. With that attitude, there could be no genuine interest in learning the truth.

She really took a page right out of Trump’s playbook when she told millions of Americans watching what the two things were that they needed to know. Very insulting of her to insinuate that those watching were not capable of learning what they needed to know by listening to the fact witnesses.

She has some explaining herself to do as the representative of the 10th Mountain Division, as someone serving on the House Armed Services Committee and as someone serving on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. After listening to the Russia expert, Fiona Hall, explain the Russian propaganda, Ukraine connection, and that American government officials in that hearing room were spreading Russian propaganda for American domestic political use, how damaging it is, and Fiona Hill asking them to please not do this, Stefanik needs to explain why she is more interested in partisan politics than in carrying out her duty to protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic.

My answer to “Who needs a representative like this?”: I don’t need one and don’t want one like this.
