To the editor:
My name is Brian Taylor and I would appreciate your vote next month for Malone town councilman.
I was born and raised in Malone and after having lived in Schenectady for 16 years, I returned to help take care of my ill mother and have been here for the past six years with my wife, Rebecca, and our 14-year-old son, Noah. By profession I am a correctional officer and at the heart, a true North Country boy, even at the age of 46.
I grew up and still have a love for the great outdoors that the area so many of us call home proudly offers us so many recreational choices. I work on the ski patrol at Titus Mountain Ski Center three days a week, enjoy four-wheeling, hiking and camping with family and friends. But what makes me a true North Country native is my sustained love for my childhood home and now the home of my own family.
Even while living away for 16 years, I never lost my ties to Malone and the people. I still enjoy the small-town feel of knowing my neighbors, the friendliness of small town neighborhoods, and the feeling of community Malone offers. I want to contribute to the growth and success of my hometown as an adult who has a different perspective from that of the young man I was growing up.
I want to be a part of Malone’s continued growth so that my own son may benefit from it and enjoy it as I have. I believe our Town Board works tirelessly to promote Malone and help it to continue to grow and thrive. While it faces many challenges, our town is supported by committed individuals whose responsibilities are many, one of those being maintaining a responsible budget. Maintaining our roads and infrastructure are other challenges our town faces and I would like to be a part of the team that works to dissolve those challenges into positive results.
I don’t believe one can serve as a town councilman or in any other capacity for their hometown without having a genuine interest and want to do so. I am that person who does have the interest and the want.
It would be an honor for me to be in a position to give back to the community that gave me so much. I am and will be an approachable representative for you and I would greatly appreciate your vote in November and would welcome any questions or dialogue you may have if you would like to learn more about me and how I would serve you and our community. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I thank you in advance for your consideration and look forward to the work ahead to make our hometown of Malone the best little town it can be.
