Efforts honored

The efforts of local tennis enthusiasts Dr. Gerry Cahill and Jerry Jones, who spearheaded an effort to rehabilitate the courts in Malone’s Recreation Park, were recognized recently when the courts were named in their honor. Cahill and Jones founded the Malone Recreation Foundation, which led a fundraising effort that paid for the rehabilitation of the courts and an adjacent basketball court. The pair’s efforts were also recently honored with a proclamation from the Malone Village Board, which Mayor Joe Riccio said represented “a fraction of our appreciation” for the work the men had done to improve the park and, by extension, the village as a whole.
