MALONE – For the first time since 2019, a spring sporting event was underway in Franklin County on Thursday. The Franklin Academy golf team hosted Gouverneur at the Malone Golf Club, where the Huskies edged the Wildcats, 234-249.
LOCKPORT – For the first time in 36 years, a state title was secured by the Malone Minor Hockey Association. The Adirondack 46ers 16U boys team captured the Tier III State Championship in Lockport on Sunday.
MASSENA – The Franklin Academy football team fell to Massena, 49-8 on the road Thursday night. With just two games on the schedule for the abbreviated Fall II season, the Huskies finished with a 1-1 record.
FORT COVINGTON – Salmon River volleyball knew it was going to be a dogfight against Franklin Academy. After their comeback was halted in the fifth set Sunday, the Shamrocks hit the gym to prepare for Tuesday’s rematch.
BRUSHTON – Mackenzie Lane came off a huge performance against Tupper Lake with 15 service points. Against Brushton-Moira on Thursday, Lane kept up the production with six kills, six aces and 18 service points.
MALONE – While there are no “official” Section 10 sponsored awards for the Northern Athletic Conference for the Fall I, winter and Fall II seasons, there was still recognition from an outside committee.
BRUSHTON – Justin Kennedy grabbed the rebound off a missed Tupper Lake free throw. With less than 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Kennedy tore down the court, weaving in and out of defenders like a sewing needle.
BRUSHTON – A defensive clinic was put on by the St. Regis Falls girls basketball team in the fourth quarter. Down 26-21 at the start of the final frame, the Saints held Brushton-Moira scoreless in the last eight minutes.
