MALONE — Section 10’s Fall I season lasted from Sept. 21 through Nov. 15, and during that time, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic heavily affected the 2020 high school soccer and cross country campaigns with postponements and cancellations.
Parishville-Hopkinton 3, Brushton-Moira 2: At Parishville, the visiting Panthers (5-3) built a 2-0 lead midway through the first half on back-to-back unassisted goals by Kyla Phelan before senior Kelly Bloom stepped up to rally the host Panthers (6-2-1).
BRUSHTON – After a bevy of missed opportunities in the first half, it took less than five minutes in the second frame for Myranda Collette to net the sole goal of the game, lifting the Salmon River girls soccer team over Brushton-Moira, 1-0, on the road Wednesday.
MALONE – Following Section 10’s decision to move forward with low- and moderate-risk fall sports for Fall Season I, northern Franklin County school districts are able to begin varsity practices on or around Sept. 21.
BRUSHTON – The 12th annual meeting of Brushton-Moira alumni for the Silver Panthers Invitational golf tournament marked the first time in which money was raised for the Silver Panther Fund. The invitational, which was hosted on the Highland Greens golf course July 16-18, raised over $5,000.
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association released a 49-page document on Friday outlining the guidelines for the return to interscholastic athletics. The document is intended to be easily read with much of the information already well known around the state of New York.
