LATHAM — With fall sports practices slated to begin 34 days from now, New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) officials said Monday, they hope to ring in a season of familiarity, after the 2020-21 school year was turned upside down by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
MASSENA - The Salmon River Central varsity boys lacrosse team relay the momentum of a 7-1 second-quarter surge into a 16-6 win over Massena Central at Mike Nicholas Field in the semifinals of the Section 10 playoffs on Tuesday.
FORT COVINGTON – Both Salmon River and Massena boys lacrosse teams ran a lap each and began stretching on Monday when the first bout of thunder came. The sky got darker, the rain heavier and after the initial 30-minute rain delay, it was clear lacrosse would not be played.
FORT COVINGTON – Salmon River softball battled Gouverneur in a tight contest through five innings that saw five lead changes. With a 12-10 lead heading into the top of the sixth, the Wildcats found the momentum they needed to go the distance.
FORT COVINGTON – With PJ Ghostlaw on third base, senior shortstop Chase Lewis stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the fifth. Lewis grounded out to first base, but the play brought Ghostlaw home to put Salmon River on the board.
