Walking is now an option, rather than a requirement.
“I have good news for everyone. The Malone Golf Club and its board of directors have received the go-ahead from the state to implement the use of golf carts,” stated MGC President Arlie Collins in an email to the Telegram.
Collins went on to point out that there are still stipulations and protocols that must still be followed for the use of said carts.
“Carts will be rented through the Pro Shop,” Collins continued. “Please call in advance if one is required and a Pro Shop employee will make the transaction.”
The carts will be restricted to one person – unless there are two people from the same household – and Malone Golf Club General Manager Tom Siddon has a sanitation plan in place. Furthermore, all employees will be required to wear PPE as a way to keep themselves – and the public – safe.
Collins added that the leadership of the Malone Golf Club appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during this COVID-19 pandemic and stressed that all who wish to traverse the local links follow the rules of social distancing set forth by the governor’s office.
Siddon also announced that both courses (East and West) are fully operational and, to make registration easier, he has set up an outdoor registration desk just outside the Pro Shop’s main entrance. He also pointed out that the Grill Room is open for take-out orders.
“Players can call up the Grill Room and order from their to-go menu and have food delivered to them at the turn,” Siddon explained. “We just had one member call up and place an order from No. 7 West and his food will be delivered by the time he reaches No. 10 tee.”
The GM went on to point out that the East-side Snack Shack is open, and food will be delivered by an employee via the beverage/food cart, which Siddon noted is “running nearly every day.”
The Malone Golf Club’s Pro Shop can be reached by calling 518-483-2926 (Extension 1), while on-course orders to the Grill Room can be made by calling same phone number, pressing extension 2.
