Chateaugay notched its 10th win of the 2019-20 CYO Basketball League season, while Citizen Advocates and Maranatha were also victorious in games played at St. Joe’s gym in Malone on Saturday.
Maranatha 59, Bangor 48
Three players connected for double digits in the Maranatha win at St. Joe’s gym in Malone on Saturday. Braden Powell led the way with a game-high 21 points, as Israel Ryman (3 rebounds) followed with 19 points. Eddie Russell scored 11 points and added six rebounds to the victory, while Ryan Avery finished with a six-point outing. Jeremy LeClair accounted for the other two Maranatha points.
Dryden Spinner paced the Bangor effort with a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. Scott McCray Jr. followed with 14 points and four rebounds, as Caiden LaMay added 12 points to the Bangor effort. Connor Smith rounded out the scoring with three points.
Citizen Advocates 56,
Alex Hanna paced the winners with 15 points and six rebounds, as Dawson Scharf followed with a true double-double with 12 of both points and rebounds. Braedyn Dietz finished off the win with nine points and seven rebounds, as Blake Rivers scored eight points and grabbed nine caroms. Dylan Warner chipped in with seven points, as Dawson Warner added three to the victory.
Zedynn Poirier led the Fischer, Bessette, Muldowney & McArdle contingent with 14 points, as Sage Sovie finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Brayden Fefee scored three points, Ethan LaVarre and Jeb Shea had two each, as Conner Hanna collected a singleton.
Smitty’s Construction 49
Carter Tower led the winners with a double-double performance of 21 points and 10 rebounds, as Cody Woodard also tossed in a game-high 21 points. Brady Magoon finished with an 18-point outing, as Julia Bosley and Isiah Rivera completed the output with two points each.
Nate Martin paced the Smitty’s Construction effort with 18 points, while Bradley Smith followed with 13. Brady Sweet scored eight points, Jarrett Sweet had four, as Logan McMahon, Kelson Preve and Lucas Saumier connected for two points each.
St. John Bosco was scheduled to play at Ogdensburg on Sunday, but made no attempt to contact the coach. Teams, scorekeepers, referees and parents were all there waiting for a game that never happened.
According to CYO Basketball League Director Ken Cring, unless there were some very extenuating circumstances involved, the game will be declared a forfeit for the coach-less squad.
FMBB 27, Maranatha 20
Ben Poupore paced the law firm squad with eight points, as Ethan LaVarre scored seven and Jordan Perry had six. Troysean Morris finished with four points and Kolt Warner added two points to the win. Marcus Langlois led Maranatha with eight points. Damien McCave scored five and Jacob Foster had four, as Kyle Avery completed the offensive output with three points.
St. John Bosco 20, Bangor 15
Dalton Wilcox led the winners with nine points, as Derek Bova followed with seven and Brady Hopkinson had four. Caden Jarvis led the Bangor effort with 10 points, as Lacey Robideaux and Dustin Baker scored two each. Jacob Gagnon chipped in with a free throw.
Citizen Advocates 26,
Rieley Smythe led the winners with a game-high 16 points, as Terrell Mosher followed with a six-point outing. Nathan Mulverhill and Nick Klein completed the scoring with two points each. Julia Bosley led Chateaugay with eight points, as Evan Winters followed with seven. Raven Winters and Aiden Southworth scored two points each during the setback.
