CANTON – In yet another battle for first place in the Northern Athletic Conference Central, Franklin Academy softball once again fell to Canton, 11-3 on the road.
Ryleigh McCauley threw five strikeouts from the mound, with four walks allowed and 12 hits. The Huskies had six errors.
Mackenzie Lane went 2-for-3 at bat with two doubles and an RBI. McCauley went 2-for-3, and Alanna Dumas went 1-for-3. Julia Perras (2-for-3) hit a double.
ST. LAWRENCE 18, SALMON RIVER 3
The Shamrocks fell to 0-9 after a road loss to the Larries.
Chateaugay baseball fell in both games of a double-header on the road at Norwood-Norfolk, 14-1 and 16-0 respectively. The Flyers played a perfect game in the second of the two.
BRUSHTON-MOIRA 10, ST. LAWRENCE 6
The Panthers remain undefeated, picking up their seventh straight win of the season over the Larries. AJ Martin pitched six and a third innings, striking out eight batters and walking four with two runs allowed.
Dawson White went 2-for-3 at bat with three runs. Gavin Allen (two RBIs) and Justin Kennedy (four RBIs) both went 2-for-5 at bat. Wayne Palmer went 1-for-4 with a home run.
FRANKLIN ACADEMY 223, MASSENA 226
Franklin Academy golf improved to 7-3 after edging Massena in team score at the Malone Golf Club. Dawson Miletich (41), Sam Eells (42), Jerry Scharf (43), Owen Eells (48) and Evan Miller (49) posted the winning scores for the Huskies.
“What a difference three days makes. Home course advantage may account for something also,” Franklin Academy coach Chris Kelley said. “We had a number of guys shoot their season low round tonight. Dawson, Jerry, Owen had their season’s best performances and it was just enough to get the win. Now we will focus on being ready for sectionals on Friday at Potsdam Country Club.”
