Huskies topple Bulldogs in volleyball

MALONE — Franklin Academy girls soccer dropped its league game on Wednesday, 3-1 to Gouverneur. The Wildcats improved to 4-1 on the year while the Huskies dropped to 2-6.

After surrendering a goal to Gouverneur at the game’s 23rd minute, Claire Poupore responded with an unassisted goal at the match’s 33rd mark.

Both teams’ defense stood strong for the majority of the game, until Peyton Mussaw broke the 1-1 tie with an unassisted strike with four minutes to go in regulation.

Husky goalkeeper Gina Norcross finished with 15 saves.

Franklin Academy before the game honored its 10 seniors on senior day — Norcross, Poupore, Cameran Stone, Emma Hesseltine, Avery Bannon, Julia Perras, Estella Guerin, Claudia LaPlant, Elizabeth Dumas and Abigail Carnahan.
