MALONE – Following Section 10’s decision to move forward with low- and moderate-risk fall sports for Fall Season I, northern Franklin County school districts are able to begin varsity practices on or around Sept. 21.

Swimming was floated to Fall Season II along with high-risk sports, such as football and volleyball. Soccer and cross country will be the only sports offered in the fall, and school districts have their timelines set for the beginning of varsity practices.


With Chateaugay already in the midst of in-person classes, varsity boys and girls soccer practices will begin Sept. 21.

Salmon River

Students are scheduled to transition to the hybrid school model on Sept. 21. Varsity practices for boys and girls soccer, as well as cross country, will begin on Sept. 23. Junior varsity and modified will start Sept. 28.


Students have been attending classes in-person, so student-athletes will begin soccer and cross country practices on Sept. 21.

St. Regis Falls

Students will be returning to school in-person on Sept. 21. Boys and girls soccer are scheduled to begin practices the following day, although Athletic Director Wilbur Bailey said that date could be pushed back.

Franklin Academy

Students return to in-person learning on Sept. 21. Following board approval on Sept. 22, varsity soccer and cross country practices will begin on Sept. 23.
