Gov. Andrew Cuomo has relaxed some of the COVID-19 restrictions which now allow some of the local sports leagues to hold least part of a baseball and/or softball season.

With that announcement by the governor, the Malone Youth Baseball League notified The Telegram Sports Department via email on Friday that it will be holding sign-ups today and Tuesday.

The sign-ups will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Malone Rec Park’s Andrews Pavilion, which is located next to the park’s main entrance on Duane Street.

These sign-ups are for any child – ages 4 to 12 – from any community for a projected 12-game season that is slated to run from July 6 to Aug. 14. Players must sign up on one of these two nights, as league directors need to have rosters, schedules and shirts ready for the July 6 beginning. Cost is $40 per child.
