MALONE – The Malone boys varsity lacrosse team learned another harsh lesson in their first season as a program when they faced the league leading Salmon River Shamrocks on Thursday afternoon.
The Shamrocks raced out to a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and kept the defense guessing throughout the game en route to a 30-3 victory over the Huskies.
Dallan Thompson and Mason Cree led Salmon River with matching four goal, three assist efforts. Sebastien Laughing finished with three goals and five assists, and Parker Thompson (1 assist) netted three goals. Alex Delormier (3 assists), Ethan Seymour (2 assists), Jordin Phillipps (1 assist), Karter Lyons, and Treyton Mitchell each had two goals. Xavier Delormier, Blazen Swamp, Teiokwirathe Zade Mitchell and Wyatt Benedict each had solo goals. Taeys Tasse-Phillips-Benedict and Tehoronhiathe added an assist each to the winning effort.
For Malone, Aiden Caron scored two goals and Mason Bresett added one in the loss. Chandler Fefee recorded two assists.
As the regular season begins to wind down, Salmon River (12-1) holds a narrow half-game lead over Massena for the top spot in the Section 10 standings. Malone (0-13) will have two more chances to notch the first win in school history with games against St. Lawrence Central and Canton coming up.
In the other Section 10 lacrosse matchups on Thursday, Canton defeated Plattsburgh 18-7, St. Lawrence Central grinded out a 7-2 victory over Colton-Pierrepont, and Massena toppled Potsdam 11-5.
