CHATEAUGAY-BRAINARDSVILLE — With a surplus of 33 votes, Chateaugay-Brainardsville Fire District residents approved the purchase Sutphen Custom Pumper.
The Sutphen Custom Pumper, will cost $527,000 and will be paid by means of the Fire Department’s truck replacement reserve fund and installment payments over five years.
“We are very excited for the new truck. It is one of newer design which features more space for equipment and that’ll clear up a lot of space within the fire department,” Jo Ellen Sumier, chairperson of the Fire District Commissioners said.
The new firetruck was primarily proposed due to the lifespan of the currently issued vehicle at the department. According to Sumier, the vehicle is reaching its efficiency lifespan of 30 years. Sumier stated that in avoiding repair and maintenance costs, the Fire Department will be saving money in the long run.
Sumier also said that the Chateaugay-Brainardsville Fire District is also looking for candidates for the upcoming annual Commissioners election on Dec. 2.
The election will be handled to NYS regulation standards and in order to maintain balance in regards to commissioners, the Fire District is looking for Brainardsville candidates. The only prerequisites needed are the following: To live in Brainardsville, to be a registered voter, and to submit a petition signed by 25 registered voters.
