ALTONA — North country fire departments and state fire association leaders gathered Friday to celebrate the inclusion of the Fair Play Ambulance Recovery Act in the 2022-23 state budget.

After years of advocacy from firefighters and elected representatives from across the state, the inclusion of the cost recovery act in this year’s budget will allow fire departments to recover the costs of providing ambulance services, according to a prepared statement from Constance Mandeville, community liaison for the office of Assemblyman D. Billy Jones, D–Chateaugay Lake.
