MALONE — Passersby pulled over into parking lots and nearby residents observed from their porches Tuesday evening, as a firefighting force that included Malone, Westville, Constable, Bangor and Burke fire stations were called to Fat Jake’s on East Main Street.

Traffic was detoured between Flanders Elementary School and the Franklin County Fairgrounds.

There was no extensive damage visible to the front of the building facing the street, or any overpowering smell.

Firefighters were seen exiting the front door of the structure and examining the side of the building facing east.

Little information was available at the scene, though Shawn Monica of the Malone Fire Department said no one was injured at the scene.

Fire departments were called to the former bar and grill following a thunderstorm that passed through the village at around 6 p.m., but fire officials did not say whether the storm was the cause.
