MALONE — The Wead Library Annual Election took in 98 total ballots, with 94 ballots containing votes in favor of keeping the library’s fiscal budget for next year at $566,000.

Four residents voted against keeping the library’s appropriation, there were zero blank or spoiled ballots, library officials said.

All 98 ballots contained votes for Jeanne Leclerc to fill a five-year term for Library Trustee. The seat will expire June 30, 2026. There were no write-in votes for the position, library officials said.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic cutting building operation costs, the Wead Library Board of Trustees arrived at a 2021-22 fiscal year budget appropriation of $566,000. This is a 0% increase from last year.

The library’s estimated total fund balance, as of June 30, is $ 1,476,165. It has an unreserved fund balance of $1,321,093, as of July. The total reserved fund balance is $155,072.

The new fiscal budget’s estimated total income is $ 739,100. Taxes are expected to appropriate $566,000 for the income and $158,495 from an unreserved balance. Library expenditures are expected to come out to $739,100, with spendings including $460,000 for employee salaries and benefits.

Expenses for books and serials, along with fuel, utilities, and phones, add up to $66,000. There will be $73,600 set aside for building repairs, building maintenance and equipment/supplies.
