WESTVILLE –– State police are releasing little information about a shooting in Westville Wednesday night that left a man with a leg wound.

Troopers responded to a residence on Heather Drive about 8:21 p.m. after receiving a report of the wounded man, whom they did not identify. A preliminary investigation determined the wound was not self-inflicted and the shooting was not a random act, Troop B Public Information Officer Jennifer Fleishman said.

The public is not in danger at this time, Fleishman said.

The victim was treated at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone and later transferred to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. His injuries are not life-threatening, Fleishman said.

No other details of the incident are being released at this time.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information concerning the shooting is being asked to contact New York State Police at 518-483-5000.
